About this service
Counselling is a safe and non-judgemental space for you to talk openly about what's going on in your life.
We provide twelve one-to-one counselling sessions for people who identify as LGBTQ+ and/or those who are questioning their sexuality or gender. Each session lasts for 50 minutes.
LGBTQ+ people are more likely to be affected by mental health problems, due to a range of factors, including discrimination, homophobia/biphobia/transphobia and isolation. Many LGBTQ+ people don't access mainstream support services because they're afraid of stigma, discrimination or a lack of understanding.
Our counselling service helps LGBTQ+ people talk to a professional in a setting where they feel accepted and affirmed for who they are; all our counsellors have lived experience of issues affecting LGBTQ+ people.
Who can use this service
You need to be aged 18 or over, live in Lewisham or Greenwich, and identify as LGBTQ+, this includes people who are questioning.
If you live in Lewisham, sessions are low cost. If you live in Greenwich, we offer sessions for a reduced fee. Please contact us at [email protected] for more information about fees across our counselling service.
How to access this service?
Send us an email: [email protected]. You can refer yourself into the service, or be referred by someone who works with you (like a GP or social worker).
We will send you information and a referral form to sign up for an initial assessment.
This will be a chance to talk about what has brought you to counselling and find out if METRO is the appropriate service to support you.
The assessment is free. If we decide to go ahead, you’ll join our waiting list to see a counsellor.
