Gender Identity Training

Training and support to allow organisations to support staff and clients regarding gender identity

The trainer was a joy to listen to, excellent delivery, and kept my attention throughout the whole 3 hours!

Gender Identity: Awareness and inclusion (Part 1)

This training focuses specifically on gender identity. This session supports and develops an individual and organisational awareness of the specific experiences of trans, non-binary and gender-diverse people. It offers participants an opportunity to consider how to create safe and inclusive spaces for this community and its members.

In this training, you will:

  • Develop awareness of gender identity
  • Identify more inclusive terminology and language
  • Explore the lived experiences of trans, non-binary and gender-diverse people, including discrimination and its impacts
  • Identify resources and develop practical responses to be able to create safer spaces, and improve the inclusivity of any support being offered.

This is a comprehensive and engaging 3-hour training course, available as an online or in-person session for 25 to 30 participants. This can be a discrete individual session, or delivered as part of a training package.

This training is also offered in a condensed, introductory version as a 1.5-hour presentation/webinar, either online or in-person. The condensed option is an individual session, catering for larger participating audiences.

When booking: Gender Identity training Part 1 (Awareness and inclusion) can be delivered together with Part 2 (Inclusive working practice) as a full day of training.

Gender Identity: Inclusive working practice (Part 2)

This training builds on and enhances the knowledge gained from completing the first part of METRO’s course: Gender Identity: Awareness and inclusion. It offers participants the time and space to reflect on existing individual and organisational practices, examining what an inclusive provision of services for trans, non-binary, and gender-diverse people looks like in action. Participants are supported to develop a more nuanced and inclusive approach to their working practice through interactive activities, discussion, and exploring case studies and scenarios. This session helps to increase participants’ confidence around gender identity, and to develop a working practice which is more supportive and inclusive of trans, non-binary, and gender-diverse people. This training will be tailored with bespoke activities to meet the current needs of your organisation.

In this training, you will:

  • Recap understanding of gender identity, including inclusive language and terminology
  • Investigate trans, non-binary, and gender-diverse people’s experiences of discrimination and oppression
  • Identify and examine what inclusive practice looks like, developing confidence in your approach and responses
  • Investigate how to create safer spaces for trans, non-binary and gender-diverse people, and become a more active and effective ally

This is a comprehensive and engaging 3-hour training course, which is offered after completing Part 1, Gender Identity: Awareness and Inclusion. This training is available online or in person for 25 to 30 participants.

When booking: Gender Identity training Part 1 (Awareness and Inclusion) can be delivered together with Part 2 (Inclusive Working Practice) as a full day of training.
