Following a Council-led tender process, Bexley Voluntary Service Council (BVSC) have been awarded the Royal Borough of Greenwich Infrastructure Support Service for 2026/27. Therefore GAVS, as the Council for Voluntary Service (CVS) for Greenwich and provider of capacity building and infrastructure support for the borough's Voluntary Sector, will be transitioning from METRO Charity to BVSC on the 1st April.
Andrew Kerr, Head of Place and Partnerships and Strategic Lead for GAVS, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for the future of GAVS and its numerous provisions for the Voluntary Sector within Greenwich. GAVS has a long history of enabling a rich, vibrant, successful, but also sustainable Voluntary Sector within the borough, with the transition of GAVS to BVCS ensuring that it can continue to support and advocate for the sector in its delivery for local residents and communities.”
Jattinder Rai, Chief Executive Officer for BVSC, said: “We are delighted to be given this opportunity to work alongside the rich and vibrant Voluntary Sector across Greenwich which is the result of GAVS's dedicated support. We have been supporting the sector in Bexley for more than sixty years and we remain fully committed to continuing that support. We are also looking forward to getting to know better the local charities and grassroots organisations that make up the Voluntary Sector in Greenwich, and will work to advocate in their delivery for local residents and communities.”
