Out From the Centre

Our 40th anniversary project, with free workshops and an exhibition!

To mark 40 years of METRO Charity, we are delighted to announce we are running a series of free community workshops over the next few weeks and months. Each workshop will focus on a key moment from our past, and look towards our shared future.

The project will culminate in an exhibition, hosted by Mimosa House, in May: 'Out From the Centre: a tribute to 40 years of LGBTQ+, Disability & HIV activism'.

Out From the Centre shines a light on 40 years of local history, untold stories and the life-changing power of collectivity. METRO Charity has advocated for diverse and inclusive mental and sexual health, youth, and community support since the ‘80s, from being on the frontlines of Section 28 protests to launching the first community-based HIV/STI testing clinic in London. This exhibition honours and reimagines METRO’s past and looks toward our shared future.
