Standing with LGBTQ+ and Women Migrants

Our response to Home Secretary Suella Braverman’s recent claims around LGBTQ+ and Women Migrants

As some of the world’s most vulnerable people, it is of paramount importance that Prime Minister Rishi Sunak reaffirms the UK’s commitment and legal obligations to protect LGBTQ+ people and women around the world.

We wholeheartedly reject Home Secretary Suella Braverman’s claim that LGBTQ+ and women refugees are misusing their identities to make false asylum claims.

This language is extremely dangerous and simply false. To turn our backs on these communities fleeing their countries and life-threatening situations to seek safety in the UK is utterly immoral.

We firmly believe that no person should be at risk of persecution because of their identity/s and stand in solidarity with LGBTQIA+ and female-identifying refugees around the globe.
