World Hepatitis Day 2021

Hear from our Deputy CEO Andrew Evans as he shares his thoughts and statement of solidarity with World Hepatitis Day’s global campaign.

Today is World Hepatitis Day, raising awareness of viral hepatitis.

The day takes places annually on 28th July and highlights the need to accelerate work to eliminate hepatitis. Globally a person dies every 30 seconds from a hepatitis related illness.

This year the campaign is highlighting that even with the current COVID-19 pandemic – it’s clear that “Hep Can’t Wait!”.

Andrew Evans, our Deputy CEO, said: “We are proud to be standing in solidarity with World Hepatitis Day’s global campaign “Hep Can’t Wait!”.

“Today is a day where our global community comes together to raise awareness of viral hepatitis, one of the most deadly and neglected diseases and health crises internationally.

“We recognise the important actions needed to reduce hepatitis and increase testing and encourage people to order or take a test today. Together, both here in the UK and across the world, we can take the actions needed to get on track to meet World Hepatitis Alliances 2030 elimination goals.”
