I am a chartered accountant with over 30 years post-qualified experience across many finance disciplines including financial management, control and reporting, internal audit, treasury, risk management and insurance.
I am passionate about the value of community. I was the Treasurer for The Food Chain (HIV specialist nutrition charity) during a period of significant transformation of the charity’s strategy and services provided. More recently, I have been the Co-Founding Chair of the LGBTQ+ employee network at my place of work, making a difference to the LGBTQ+ community, LGBTQ+ employees, parents of LGBTQ+ children and allies in terms of advocacy and support. For many years I was also a singing member of The London Gay Men’s Chorus, educating and inspiring through song, along with working with schools to tackle homophobia.
I am a gay cis man who grew up during the late 1970s and 1980s on a council housing estate (social housing) during a period of significant homophobia, fuelled by the AIDS crisis and government policy. This lived experience brings a level of empathy and compassion for any minority community experiencing inequality. I have been fortunate in being able to seize the opportunities offered to me, enabling me to be financially secure, healthy and able to contribute to the society we live in. I strongly believe we should all be provided with the opportunity to reach our full potential.
My role as Treasurer is to provide financial oversight at METRO. My objective in this role is to ensure METRO’s long term financial stability and strength. This will enable everyone at METRO to implement our charity strategy, deliver services and most importantly add value to the lives of our service users.
I truly believe that each of us can make a difference. By giving of our time, our knowledge, our experience, or by making a financial donation (however large or small), we can make permanent positive difference in our community. Please make that difference by doing something now… today!
