LGBTQ+ Inclusive Relationships and Sex Education (RSE): Training for professionals

This training supports the development of a more inclusive RSE that considers the specific requirements of LGBTQ+ children and young people. The sessions take an intersectional approach, exploring how RSE often overlooks the needs of learners from marginalised communities, leaving young people without the education they need to engage in healthy relationships or make informed decisions about their sexual health. This training provides professionals with the knowledge, skills and awareness they need to be able to provide more inclusive RSE programmes.

In this training, you will:

  • Become confident in your awareness of LGBTQ+ identities and knowledge of LGBTQ+ terminology
  • Identify how RSE can exclude or not meet the needs of LGBTQ+ learners, and why
  • Take an intersectional approach to RSE, ensuring it meets the needs of all learners, including those who are LGBTQ+
  • Explore a range of practical learning tools and activities that can be used to deliver more inclusive RSE sessions

The training has taught me a lot on a subject I was not confident in.

Positive Approaches to RSE: Developing Confidence

This training is perfect for anyone who wants to develop their confidence in delivering RSE. The session explores different approaches to the topic, and how to encourage engagement, participation and growth from the students or young people.

In this training, you will:

  • Investigate the importance of RSE and the positive impact it can have on student safety and wellbeing
  • Identify and practice using teaching tools for delivering more effective RSE
  • Explore ways to navigate challenging conversations with confidence
